A new luxury care home has been topped out by the Mayor of Kirklees.

Clr Ken Smith attended the ceremony to mark a milestone in the build of the new Denby Dale care home.

Topping out is a traditional milestone in the construction of a building and usually marks the completion of the roof or other significant stage in the build.

The 47 bed care home is being built on the site of a former animal feed mill on Wakefield Road, which has been demolished.

Holme Valley developers Conroy Brook began constructing the £4.5m premises in late 2013.

Cheshire based care firm Meridian says the new facility will create 50 jobs for the village.
