Jack and Glenda Yates, of Upper Wilshaw, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and asked relatives and friends to make donations to the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.

The total raised was £576.

The Trust is to build a hospice in Brackenhall for children with terminal and life-threatening illnesses.

Mrs Yates said: “We just wanted to do all we could to help get the hospice built and are thrilled with the total.’’

The couple (pictured above) married at Meltham Methodist Church in 1958 – and went on to become teachers at Meltham Methodist Church Sunday School.
