Anchor took part in a worldwide Mexican wave to celebrate International Care Home open day and opened their doors with a Mexican theme.

Craig Green, Tolson Grange activities co-ordinator said: “We had the Gypsy Kings playing in the background to maintain a relaxed Mexican style atmosphere whilst wearing sombreros and moustaches to complete the feel.

“We invited 31 children from St Joseph Catholic School in Dalton to attend and take part in a variety of the worldwide games and open day celebrations.

“We organised Mexican games such as Pin the tail on the Burro and Piñata, the children also took part in a competition run by the home Tolson Grange to name one of our floors.

“They also formed a big part of our attempt of the Mexican wave. Seeing children in the home always uplifts the moods of everyone here within the home.

“The teachers told me it was the children’s first ever visit into a care home and they really did shine but you would have not know as the boys and girls integrated so comfortably with the residents yet again bringing smiles galore across the home. The highlight of the day was probably when relatives joined their loved ones outside in our gardens for some al fresco entertainment, wearing sombreros, enjoying ice lollies whilst listening to a fabulous 1940’s singer”.
