MIRFIELD: Jan 18. The freezing weather presented an unusual opportunity for theft.
A woman left her car engine running in Castle View while she went back into her home.
A thief sneaked up and snatched the tax disc from the windscreen.
Jan 18: Would-be burglars opened an unlocked ground floor window to get into a property in Littlemoor Grove at 12.25am but were confronted by the victim. Two men were later arrested.
Jan 17. Raiders forced the padlock on the sliding doors of a metal shed in Wilson Avenue – but there was nothing inside to steal!
Jan 16.Burglars smashed a patio window with a brick and got into a house in Shillbank View. They searched the kitchen and stole car and motorbike keys.
Jan 20. Raiders forced open the electricity cabinet at a house in Kings Head Road and pulled out the fuse.
They then forced a conservatory window to get inside. They searched a bedroom and escaped with jewellery, making off through the same window.
Jan 20: Raiders used bodily force to attack the upvc door of a house in Shaw Street. The centre panel was removed but the raiders must have been disturbed and fled empty handed.
