A school reunion proved a big success.

Students who left Mirfield High School in 1983 met up again for a 30th anniversary celebration.

As many as 50 former classmates linked up for a party at Lower Hopton WMC.

The pals – now aged 46 – partied away in 1980s style. Their last gathering was 13 years ago.

Organiser Steph Hepworth said ex-students travelled from near and far.

One came from Indiana in the United States and another from Istanbul in Turkey. Others came from Plymouth and London.

Steph, nee Hoyle, said: “We had a really good time and there were a few sore heads.

“We met some students we hadn’t seen since school and some of those we saw last time had a little less hair than before!

“I’ve had some great feedback and everyone was asking when we are going to do it again.

“We won’t leave it so long next time, maybe five years.”
