A YOUTH club on wheels will be stopping at a new location in Meltham for the New Year.

The bus, which can accommodate around 20 young people on board, will be parking up at the doctor’s surgery at The Cobbles, near Morrisons supermarket.

The move to a better-lit location was arranged by Clr Terry Lyons in a bid to attract more youngsters to use the service.

The bus, which is aimed at teenagers, will be there on Thursdays from 7 to 9pm and Saturdays from 5 to 7pm.

Youth club workers hope to park up at the new location for the first time on Thursday, February 3.

The service was introduced earlier this year as the previous village youth club attracted low numbers.

Facilities available on and through the youth bus include: internet access, a games console, arts and crafts, sports, circus skills and Dj-ing.

It also includes a lot of information on a multitude of activities available for young people across Kirklees including advice and guidance on educational opportunities plus life skills information on sexual health, drugs and alcohol, and crime and health.
