THE police and fire brigade joined forces to warn children about the potential dangers of Bonfire Night.

Community support officer Dawn Su and Fiona Mellor from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, went to Moldgreen Community Primary School to give a presentation on fire safety.

Pcso Su said: “We spoke to 300 pupils and they were all entertained by the presentation. They then were given a chance to ask us some questions about fireworks.

“We finished off by telling the children about out poster competition, where we would like them to design an A4 picture with a fire safety message. We are trying to encourage the children to spread the fire safety message with their family members.”

Recruitment agency Stafflex will provide prizes such as toffee apples for the posters. The winner’s parents will receive a family selection box of fireworks.
