Ameeta Foster, a parent of one of the Year 6 leavers from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Dalton, organised a leavers’ prom at Moldgreen Top Club.

The event was for all the children leaving in that year – 30 in total. There was a raffle in aid of Kirkwood Hospice.

Ameeta was given donations by local businesses including big prizes for meals at restaurants.

Ameeta said: “I had a personalised autograph book for them to sign along with a wish tree. It had wooden hearts and stars for them to write their names and the front and their wishes for the future.

“I will hold a reunion in 2021 when they are all 18 just to see and show then what they wrote.

“There was a firework display too and as a leavers gift, each child received a personalised lucky sixpence to bring them luck, there was also a DJ and photo booth and a buffet.”

Businesses who donated were: Queensgate Ironmongers, Witchcraft – Queensgate Market, Boots, Ciao Bella, Fenay Bridge, Cardamon Green, Poppadom, Blacksmith’s Arms, Kirkheaton, Beaumont Arms, Kirkheaton, Crillys, E Nails, Mark Reilly, Cjs and Jcs, Jason Quintoo, Gary Pearce Hairdressers, Deal House, Phone shop, Queensgate Market, Insiration Flowers and Go Outdoors.
