A TOP artist helped pupils celebrate the 40th anniversary of their school.

Helaina Sharpley, who is based at the West Yorkshire Print Workshop, in Mirfield, delivered workshops at Moor End Academy in Crosland Moor last week.

The wirework artist, whose work has recently been bought by David Hockney, helped Year 8 art pupils create a series of relief drawings of scenes from inside and outside the school.

The work will be displayed at the North Light Gallery in Armitage Bridge next month as part of the school’s exhibition of pupils’ design work.

There will be an open evening from 4.30pm on Tuesday next week, July 10.
