The efforts and achievements of students at Moor End Academy have been recognised at an awards’ ceremony.

Over 200 former and current students celebrated their successes at Huddersfield Town Hall during the previous academic year..

Guest speaker Peter McCann, Principal of Kirklees College, Head Girl and Head Boy, Rumi Appadoo and Matthew Peckett helped to open the ceremony, where pupils from year seven to 11 were presented with awards that recognised excellence in individual subjects, their voluntary work through the national organisation ‘vInspired’ and 100% attendance rates.

Gold award winners of a new Inspire Me award, which recognises students’ contribution to the academy and fulfilment of its core expectations were also given accolades.

The annual ‘Moor End Academy Shield’ was won by Nikita Wood, who left last year with a full set of top grade A* GCSEs, The Rotary Club Service to School award was won by Head Boy, Hamzah Nazir and the Greatest Distance Travelled category was won by Diana Brych, the student who made the most progress over her five years at the school.
