EARLY morning fog caused delays on Huddersfield’s roads yesterday morning.

Reduced visibility and heavier than usual traffic reduced travel speeds to 15mph on the M62 and caused delays from Junction 22, Rishworth Moor, through Huddersfield all the way to North Cave in East Yorkshire.

It was taking drivers 50 minutes to travel between Huddersfield and Junction 27, M621 Gildersome.

Further slow-moving traffic was reported in both directions on the A62 Cooper Bridge Road at Mirfield and the westbound A629 Penistone Road at Waterloo.

The fog arrived as temperatures plunged below zero. More fog is forecast again for this morning, but temperatures are expected to remain above freezing.
