I've got a friend who uses a doctor and they have this problem. He lives on the canal, so he can't have a landline and you can't even call these numbers from phone boxes. Madness.

I use a website called "say no to 0870" - gives alternative numbers including freephone numbers.

Our doctor uses an 0844 number and it is itemised on the bill as a special service number and costs a fortune to ring and doesn't come off your free allowance.
The doctor has a normal 01484 number but I had to find it on their website. It’s hidden in contacts the link.

I have the same app on my phone Martin and I swear by it. Others have me checking for alternative numbers too.

My local surgery does. It costs a small fortune considering you are put in a queue to wait for an appointment....... Not really on.
