WE freely admit that we don’t know if MP Barry Sheerman has a point or not when he complains about the design and siting of Moldgreen Community Primary School.

Certainly – and contrary to the claim by Cabinet member Clr Jim Dodds – Mr Sheerman has demonstrated a long history of concern about the £5m school.

The MP’s views were frequently reported in the Examiner before building began and he held talks with two Government ministers at the time.

So he cannot be accused of suddenly coming out of nowhere. The question is: Does anybody else agree with him? A statement from the governing body would be helpful before indulging in the expense of an inquiry.
