RE the £96,000 Kirklees Council spends on bottled water in one year (Examiner, February 20). I bitterly resent my council tax subsidising thirsty councillors. Is it beyond the councillors’ thinking that before going to a meeting in said outdated buildings they could fill a plastic bottle with good Yorkshire water from their own taps and take it with them?

A BIG thank you to the Asian gentleman who handed our mum’s shopping bag into Tesco store on Thursday, February 21. Our mum was shopping with her eldest daughter when mum, who is almost 90-years-old, accidentally left her shopping bag, containing purse and other things, hanging on the trolley. We just thought “well that’s it” and cancelled her pension card etc. Then Tesco rang to say her bag had been handed in! What a wonderful surprise. Unfortunately, the gentleman didn’t leave a name or phone number. We just want to say a big big thank you and express our mum’s feelings. Thank you ever so much
