WELL done to the ‘guerrilla artist’ who plonked two mannequins in the Piazza mud in Huddersfield town centre and brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of people.

Recently we posed the question ‘what is art?’ and even though this is well off the mainstream, everyone can see the art in it as it had a serious point to make.

Just why do we have to look at that sea of mud every time we walk along the Piazza?

It was ploughed up while the ice rink was being dismantled after Christmas and it seems wrong the muddy mess has been allowed to stay for so long.

Drainage problems have been blamed for the delay, but the artist has brought another serious thought to mind.

Surely the council won’t seriously consider having the ice rink at the same spot again this Christmas.
