A MOTHER and grandmother left a toddler in agony for days, with severe burns.

The two-year-old boy had burns to his hands and legs but was not taken to a doctor for almost a week.

Shocking details of the youngster’s injuries emerged as the two women appeared in court charged with neglect.

And they were condemned by the judge, Jonathan Durham Hall QC, as he sentenced the pair of them to supervision orders.

The incident happened in Birkby, Huddersfield, but neither of the women can be named to protect the identity of the child.

He has now been taken into care and the judge said: “Fortunately he has made a brilliant recovery, physically that is, and he will, to put it bluntly, now be looked after by those more responsible and more caring for his interests.”

Neither of the women has revealed how the little boy received his injuries but both pleaded guilty to a charge of child neglect.
