OUTLINE plans have been approved to transform a Bradley site to make way for housing.

Kirklees Council submitted plans to create six houses on land off Sherwood Avenue, Bradley.

The council-owned site, pictured, is surrounded by a mix of detached dwellings, blocks of flats and semi detached dwellings.

But the site which was a former Council depot will see existing out buildings demolished and six two-storey two bed homes built.

The proposal states the new homes would appeal to small families and the site is within walking distance of Bradley Junior, infants and nursery school.

A report produced to support the application reads: "The proposed use is wholly appropriate within the surrounding area, being compatible with surrounding land uses.

The design of the proposal will ensure that all common areas of the site and building are accessible to and usable by people who may have a physical disability.

"The site is suitable for a minimum of six two-bed residential units, although the proposed materials and design should be in character in terms of appearance and height. The proposals do not present any negative impact upon the amenity of neighbouring occupiers".
