A GROUP of Colombian schoolgirls will be among the first to bring an international feel to a Rastrick school.

Work on a new boarding house at Rastrick Independent School means they will soon welcome international students to study at the Ogden Lane school.

The state of the art facility will house boarding students who are expected to come from all over the world.

The first students expected at the school are three groups of Colombian girls travelling to the UK from Bogota, in the coffee producing region of Colombia, South America.

Some of the students have chosen to live with host families during their time in the UK as it will offer a more genuine ‘British experience’.

A spokeswoman for the Rastrick school said: “Welcoming international students will be hugely beneficial for local pupils who will be expected to study and work in increasingly international markets in the future.

“The international students will be integrated into the curriculum already run by the school, as well as receiving specialist English tuition to prepare them for further study in the United Kingdom”.
