THIS imposing new extension to the main building at Crosland Heath Golf Club was formally opened in June 1954 by Mr G A Wood, one of only two surviving founder members of the club, a member of the first board of directors and a former club captain.

When the fittings and furnishings were completed the building contained a billiards room, a games-cum-committee room and a mixed room, divided from each other by movable partitions, which could be drawn back to make one big ballroom for dances and other major functions.

Eventually the club intended to add to the extension at right angles to it and parallel with the first fairway, a further building which would house new locker rooms, baths and showers, a club storage room and a professional’s shop.
