NORTONTHORPE CC 1st Xl beat the rains to get their promotion hopes back on track with a timely five point success against Cawthorpe B last Saturday.

After their defeat at Bradley and Colne the previous week batsman Steve Swap was in good form as he steadied the ship with a solid 54 and the home side posted a total of 150 for seven in their allotted overs.

R Schofield was Cawthorne’s most successful bowler with impressive figures of 3-33.

C Sansom with 4-42 then led the way as the Nortonthorpe bowlers kept a tight rein on the Cawthorne batsmen who finished on 138-8.

G Kilburn top scored for the visitors with 42 and C Mott made 41 as Cawthorne held out for a batting point.
