Staff from a Huddersfield nursery group celebrated at a presentation event.

Workers from the Birkbees Group, which runs children’s nurseries in both Birkby and Fixby, enjoyed a fantastic start to the New Year with a packed day of training for the whole nursery group and a presentation evening to finish off the day.

Staff took part in a full day planned of workshops consisting of safeguarding, curriculum and assessment, promoting positive behaviour alongside a creative and forest school workshop.

The latter saw staff fully wrapped up for the wintry weather and enjoying a fun-filled workshop where they were shown how to use the outdoors to its full potential. They made tools from scratch using twigs and twine and they even got to play hide and seek.

The creative workshop consisted of staff being supplied with a variety of different ingredients and they had to use their imagination to be as creative as they wanted to be, remembering that the end product didn’t need to be edible.

A guest speaker was invited into the setting to test the staff’s knowledge on safeguarding practices and staff felt that this workshop was particularly good for support and the right guidance in this area of provision.

To bring the day to a close, a celebration buffet was held at a local restaurant where staff were treated to a banquet of Asian delicacies before a series of awards were presented.

The Birkbees Group ‘Manager of the Year’ was presented to Nicola Land from Nursery Rhymes and the ‘Nursery of the Year’ award was presented to Angie Baggley and her staff team at Fixbees.
