A Nursery has honoured one of its staff members for 20 years of dedication.

Staff and children at Portland House Nursery congratulated Anne Watson for being the first employee to reach the milestone.

Anne was presented with a bouquet of flowers, a spa voucher and a company holiday voucher.

Anne qualified as a nursery nurse in 1977.

She worked in nursery schools in Germany and Huddersfield before joining the Lindley-based nursery in 1993.

For many years she was in charge of the baby room.

Her great knowledge and sympathetic ear helped many mothers as they returned to work, leaving their babies for the first time.

More recently Anne has helped prepare the pre-school children for their transition to school.

Hundreds of families in the Huddersfield area will recall how their children blossomed under her care.

Rosemary Murphy OBE, founder of Portland Nurseries which runs the New Hey Road premises, said: “Anne’s vast experience and real professionalism has made her a key member of the team.

“She is recognised by everyone as a superb and skilled practitioner with the ability to support other staff and lead by example”.
