THE free summer prom concert in Greenhead Park, Huddersfield, sounds like a wonderful idea.

I am sure thousands of people will want to attend as, will, I am sure, members of Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra.

Unfortunately, they will not be able to as, due to some remarkable joined-up thinking from the best council in the known universe, the concert has been arranged for the same evening as Slaithwaite’s own prom concert in town, which has been scheduled for well over a year.

Consequently, the orchestra can only hope to be playing to a few stalwart supporters instead of the expected full house.

Did nobody think to check the concert schedules? Never mind, if it should rain that evening, there will be plenty of room in the Town Hall!
