COLNE Valley Lions will be rolling out the barrels once again later this week.

The club has organised the three-day Slaithwaite Moonraker Beer Festival, a celebration of real ale, which starts this Thursday.

Over the years the event has raised more than £30,000 for charity.

Colne Valley Museum received more than £5,000 last year and this year’s cause is the Forget Me Not Trust, the Huddersfield children’s hospice.

The festival, at Slaithwaite Conservative Club, will boast 32 hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales.

The festival runs from 6pm-11pm on Thursday, 6.30pm-11.30pm on Friday and from noon until the beer runs out on Saturday.

Live bands will perform on Friday and Saturday nights.

John Daker, one of the organisers, said they were all set for a great weekend and expected to be drunk dry.

“We only had half a barrel left last year!” he added.
