FLOOD alerts were issued last night for a community still recovering for summer flooding misery.

The River Calder community from Brighouse to Todmorden was put on flood alert by the Environment Agency as continuous rain was forecast in the region.

And the Rivers Colne and Holme, along with Fenay Beck and their tributaries, were also put on flood alert early yesterday evening.

Downpours were expected until 3am this morning, prompting the alerts.

Surface water was likely to be the biggest worry rather than a river breaking its bank.
