Back to what was an interesting February and very wet at times. I didn’t talk too much about the temperatures but it was a very mild month with the average daily maximum temperature about 7.3°C. Put another way, it was approaching what would be expected in March. One of the reasons that the growing season did get under way, last year was that it was, if you remember, cold into April. The February night time temperatures also did very well, never going much below zero at any point in the month. The warmest night last month was the night of the 24th when it didn’t fall below 7°C, 45°F. That’s an average high you would expect in March. The coldest day by the way was +2°C, 37°F on the February 19. So generally speaking, the headline ‘mild wet month’ was right.
