THERE was some brilliant news for all Manchester City and Liverpool players on Monday.

After a long hard season where City collected their first League title for 44 years and the men from Anfield played in two Wembley finals winning the Carling Cup, some of their players seemed to be faced with an extension to their season out in eastern Europe.

However, they can all happily pack their bags and go on holiday now as new England coach Roy Hodgson sprung a major surprise by appointing Gary Neville to his coaching team – thus instantly ruling anyone who plays at Eastlands or Anfield from having any chance of being selected for the Euro 2012 championships.

(PS – you can expect Paul Scholes and David Beckham to play in every game in Poland and the Ukraine).
