PLANS for extending or re-building Honley Village Hall have been shelved.

The village magazine the Honley Flyer announced that there was “a need to accommodate both the changing needs of the existing users and to revamp the hall’s layout to create a more versatile venue”.

During the past three months Honley Village Trust has been in consultation with various people and groups to research the feasibility of the project.

But, after much deliberation, the trust committee has come to the conclusion that given the economic climate and the uncertainty of all groups to find funding it would be sensible to put the project on hold for the time being.

The Flyer says: “We (the trust) would like to offer our sincere thanks to all those organisations and individuals who have lent us their guidance and expertise to enable us to make an informed decision, especially Keith Womersley, Annette Dancer and Stephen Nolan.”
