CHEQUES for £200 each were presented to Dialwood Carriage Driving for the Disabled and Huntingdon’s Association by Pole Moor Riding Club at the club’s annual meeting.

Each year the riding club supports two worthy charities and members voted for the coming year’s charities, choosing Holly Bank Trust and The Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Society.

The club will raise funds for the chosen charities with various events.

The annual presentation of awards was also held at the AGM, at the Rose and Crown, Cop Hill, Slaithwaite.

During the business section of the evening plans were discussed for a series of challenging events for the coming season.

Trophies and rosettes were then handed out.

A big screen picture show recalled the highlights of last year’s events followed by supper and games.

RESULTS:

Most Committed Member trophy - Alice Redman. Most Improved Rider trophy - Alice Watson. Superhorse of 2010 (various events where horse and rider gained points through the year) - 1 Barclay, ridden by Annette Modena; 2 - Blue Denim, Maz Bradley; 3 Joint - Doodles, Katie Turner and Nutmeg, Daisy Green; 4 Joint - Mr Murdoch, Sharon Holmes and Harry Robertshaw, Amber; 5 Joint - Tommy, Evie Parkes and Wisper, Jenny Turner, 6 Vicki, Alice Watson.

On Saturday the previous week the club got together with Colne Valley Saddle Club and held a Tack Auction and Sale at Slaithwaite Conservative Club.

Money was raised for the charities then a quiz and pie and peas supper followed.

Club spokeswoman Maz Bradley said: “Shows officer Sarah Morris proved to be a talented auctioneer and quiz master.

“The club welcomes new members – whether to ride, help out, or just enjoy the fun.”
