Police took part in events in Huddersfield organised to celebrate a national day for play.

The officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team got involved with the activities in Greenhead Park and Ashenhurst Park.

Events were staged as part of this year’s National Playday, held every August. On this day thousands of children and their families get out to play at hundreds of events across the UK.

From small scale events to children taking over landmarks such as Trafalgar Square, Playday is celebrated by each community in a way that suits them. As well as celebrating children’s rights to play, the campaign aims to highlight the importance of play in children’s lives. The local park events featured activities for children up to 12 years old and their families. Children enjoyed looking around the police car, checking the lights and sirens along with meeting Sherlock the Dog. Kirklees Council Integrated Youth Support Services also attended.
