POLICE community officers Pcsos Sarah Conderson and Joanne Payne visited Kirkheaton Primary School and conducted SPICED (Schools Partnership in Childrens’ Education on Drugs) talks.

The sessions give children information on what to look out for regarding the signs of drug taking. The police then spent a day with year six children doing various activities and role play.

The training concluded with a school assembly where certificates are handed out to all pupils involved. SPICED is the name given to the Drugs Education programme for children in years 5/6 in Kirklees schools.

The programme was developed through partnership work involving Kirklees School Effectiveness Services, teachers, police and school nurses. It is part of a wider provision of drugs education.
