A GROUP of friends were given a classic treat for their school prom.

Instead of doing the in-thing and hiring a luxury stretched limo, Lisa Bushell and four of her friends travelled in her dad Peter’s 1959 Ford Popular 103.

They made the five-mile journey from Oakes to The Venue in Barkisland for the All Saints Catholic College prom.

The students – Lisa, Sophia Anwar, Taylor Booth, Lucy Forbes and Clare Carlton – are all 16.

Lisa said: “Fortunately we’re all small and it didn’t take too long to get there. My first thought was to travel by Pop as I’ve grown up with it.

“One of my earliest memories was when we broke down and Dad had to get the wind-up key from the boot.

“It wound-up like a clockwork toy then Dad jumped back in and we sped off. It was such a funny thing to see.”
