THE completion of the project to transform St George’s Warehouse in Huddersfield cannot come a moment too soon.

For too many years – nay, decades – the building has been a blot on our town, standing virtually derelict on its prominent site.

Tom Finch, managing director of the company converting the giant property to offices, correctly points out that whenever he talks to anyone in Huddersfield they want to know what’s going on with St George’s Warehouse.

Let us hope the work continues to proceed on schedule and the building is swiftly occupied, fulfilling job creation expectations.

Sadly, the news is not so good on that other Huddersfield landmark – Castle Hill.

You can only lament that the dispute over its use has dragged on so long. And it’s not over yet.
