IT will be puzzles galore for what is believed to be the first charity jigsaw festival ever to be held in the region.

St Martin’s Church in Brighouse will this weekend be filled with more than 600 puzzles.

They have been donated and assembled by many willing people from the local community and during the festival a display of 200 made-up jigsaws of various makes, types and sizes will fill St Martin’s Church.

And as soon as one puzzle is sold another will be put on display.

There will be puzzles for all tastes – children’s puzzles, traditional country scenes, 3D, 4D, double-sided, murder mystery, crossword, impossipuzzles, wasgij and mirror image.

One of the festival organising team, Alan Sparks, said that volunteers had spent almost 5,000 hours assembling over 450,000 jigsaw pieces to make the event possible and that he is aware of at least one party who will be travelling over 40 miles to attend.

Entry is £2, which includes a £1 discount voucher towards the purchase of a puzzle at the festival.

If you retain your programme you can return as many times as you wish without paying again.

Another reason for making a second and subsequent visit will be to enjoy the selection of delicious food to be served by the ladies of St Martin’s Social Committee at the “Missing Piece”, including morning coffee, bacon butties, lunches, a fabulous all day breakfast and afternoon tea.

There will also be crafts, a tombola and a golden jigsaw competition paying cash prizes.

Children will be able to enjoy visiting the decorated Circus Tent and there will be face painting and craft activities and they can learn basic circus skills.

The Jigsaw Festival runs from Friday, August 24, to Monday August 27, from 10am until 5pm, except on Sunday when it will open at midday.

St Martin’s is supporting the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and on Friday, August 24, the Phoenix Children’s Foundation Shetland Pony is due to visit the Festival between midday and 2pm.
