QUARRIES in Huddersfield have backed a new safety campaign.

They have joined quarries throughout Yorkshire in backing the Stay Safe Campaign as they try to tackle the issue of trespassing.

Yorkshire and Humberside has over 112 active quarries which produce over 12 million tonnes of aggregate a year, making it a key area for the campaign.

In Huddersfield there are busy quarries at Crosland Hill and Shepley.

The Stay Safe campaign, which is run by the Mineral Products Association, is targeting both teenagers and adults to better understand dangers such as ice cold water, step cliffs, falling rocks and quicksand pools.
