TWO schools have joined forces to help students learn about the ancient craft of rag rugging.

Year eight students from King James School in Almondbury and Moor End Technology College spent two days working together on a joint project.

They worked with rag rug expert Mary Lane to create two rugs reflecting their local community.

Students created individual tiles which are to be sewn together and the rugs displayed in school.

Teacher Jacqui Armitage said: “In these times of austerity it’s all about schools working together and doing more with less and focussing more on recycling.”
