IT’S hard to get into the mindset of vandals who would put stones on a railway line.
Fortunately two drivers spotted the obstructions in Dewsbury and managed to stop their trains but if they hadn’t, who knows what could have happened.
In the worst case scenario a train could have been derailed and people injured or even worse. It sounds very much like youths were to blame which instantly begs the question did their parents have any idea where they were or what they were up to?
Probably not, but with such an immature and reckless outlook we can only hope they have learned from their near run-in with the police and won’t do it again.
Sadly, that may be a forlorn hope so police patrols and inquiries will need to be stepped up in the area.
