A SHOOTING drama led to police sealing off a large part of Rawthorpe.
And now a massive police investigation, including a fingertip search, is under way to catch the culprits.
Officers were first called to the main road through Rawthorpe – Rawthorpe Lane – just before 2.15pm yesterday.
They had responded to reports of a firearms incident and a car had been damaged.
Rawthorpe Lane was closed for more than 300ft from the junction of Ridgeway towards Rawthorpe Junior School, Longfield Avenue from the junction of Ridgeway for 300ft and by the Dalton Pub to the bottom junction with North Carr.
Det Sgt Nigel Griffiths told the Examiner at the scene: “We received a call from a member of the public at around 2.15pm to reports of fire arms discharge and damage to a vehicle.

One woman, who did not wish to be named, said: “There has been fireworks going off here all day so we wouldn’t know if shots had been fired.

A 25-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
