A risqué calendar created by hairdressers from Heather Lockwood’s Hair Shop has sold out just weeks after going on sale, helping a group of daring local ladies to raise over £3,000 for Kirkwood Hospice’s Make A Difference Day campaign.

The calendar, which features a different image for each month of the year and was sold at a number of businesses around the local area, proved to be such a big hit that within a couple of weeks of going on sale, all 500 copies had been snapped up.

The naughty calendar was created over the summer when Heather and her team struck upon the idea of doing something a little bit different to help their local Hospice, and to support their friend and colleague Tracy Senior, who had been battling cancer for almost two years.

Tracy, who featured in the calendar along with her colleagues from Heather Lockwood’s Hair Shop, sadly died before the money could be presented to the Hospice.

“We are all missing Tracy, she was a wonderful friend as well as a colleague.” said Heather.

“We went to see her whilst she was very poorly and she thought it would be really funny if we came down to the Hospice to present the cheque with no clothes on, just like in the calendar.”

The pictures in the calendar were taken by local photographer Julie Najim, who gave up her time and expertise free of charge to ensure the ladies could make as much money as possible for Kirkwood.

“Julie was fantastic throughout.” said Heather. “She gave up her free time to do the shoot for us even though we didn’t know her at the time. Without her we couldn’t have raised so much.”

Kirkwood Lottery Manager, Dawn Walker, was delighted to receive the cheque for £3,014 and praised the efforts of everyone involved. She said: “The ladies have done an amazing job in producing and selling the calendar. It’s a wonderful tribute to their friend Tracy and will make a huge difference to the Hospice.”
