STUDENTS at Royds Hall High School are entering into the Olympic spirit.

Along with staff, the pupils have been using their creative flair to design and make entries for the Design an Olympic Torch competition.

Their activity follows a successful bid by PE teacher Sue Weston for the school to join the London 2012 Olympic network.

Staff and pupils created a total of 26 Olympic torches incorporating many interesting designs.

At a recent ceremony, gold, silver and bronze certificates were awarded for the best three torches.

The winning entry will now be made into a permanent torch which will be used in the tutor group torch relay and then at the opening ceremony of the schools Olympic sports day this summer.
