A YOUNG horse-rider has been recognised for his performance.

Twelve-year-old Reuben Fielder, who rides the pony Rosie, took the prize.

The Salendine Nook lad was named Most Improved Rider at Pole Moor Riding Club’s annual presentation night at the Rose and Crown in Cop Hill.

Other members honoured at the event on March 24 were:

Most Committed Member: Sarah Morris

Most Committed Non-rider (for doing the webpage and photography): John Bradley

Most Consistent Member: Daisy Green

The Superhorse Trophy: Annette Modena and her horse Barclay

The Best Turned-out of The Evening Award: Simon Green.

Cheques for £210 were presented at the event to the two charities which members helped this year – the Hollybank Trust and the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre.

Clr Nicola Turner was presented with a bouquet of flowers as thanks for her years of service as treasurer.

“She will be missed on the committee but, along with her keen horse-riding family, will still join in many club activities,” said club member Maz Bradley.

The club will hold an Easter bonnet ride from the Pennine Manor Hotel at Scapegoat Hill from 11am on Easter Sunday.

Members will also put on a fun show at Bolster Moor on Sunday, April 22.
