WELL-known village pub The Scape House has had many different landlords in recent times.

In its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s it forged a formidable reputation for food and since then many have tried to make it a viable commercial success but struggled.

These days there are many reasons for that and running a pub has never been more challenging than it is now but Steve Kerr, landlord at the Rose and Crown in Slaithwaite, is going to have a go after a local begged him to get involved.

As a traditional jovial and welcoming landlord he has the experience to know what, if anything, can be done to make a particular pub work.

He wants it to be a community hub and believes he can turn its fortunes around. It will be fascinating to see what his plans are and if they work in these tough times.
