Children at Helme School welcomed Watasa Geoffrey, headteacher, and Mwasa Joshua, teacher and librarian, from their partner school, Buyaka Primary School, Uganda, last month.

Mr Watasa and Mr Mwasa led two collective worship sessions and a PE lesson where pupils learnt Ugandan games.

The Ugandans also visited Meltham Moor Primary School and Honley High School on the visit, funded by the British Council and Crossroads, Meltham.

The visit was part of a project which earned the school its International Schools Award.

Headteacher Julie Dempster said: “The children at Helme School have not only developed a better understanding of life in Buyaka but also appreciated what the children at Buyaka can give to them.”
