CHILDREN from Hillside Primary School, Newsome, swapped their school uniforms for superhero costumes on Friday, in the name of charity.

Children, staff and parents all lent their support to Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.

The fundraising took place all week, with children from Hillside’s after-school cooking club making red nose goodies to sell at an ‘unhealthy’ tuck shop.

On the day itself, children and staff paid £1 to dress up. After the usual Golden Assembly, parents and carers were invited to enjoy homemade refreshments – if they donated to Comic Relief.

The school has so far raised over £300, with money still coming in.
