UNTIL recently I thought I had no living relations on my mother’s side of the family. A very good friend has done some research for me to discover that I may have second cousins living in West Yorkshire.
My mother was Ruby Willamina Hanton. She had a sister Muriel Dickson Hanton, born 1902, Muriel married Duncan Kay Wilson in East Wemyss, Fife, Scotland. They had a daughter Margaret Ann Wilson, who married John Fowlis Wallace. They had three daughters; Muriel Hanton Wallace and Ann Wallace, born in Buckhaven and now possibly living in West Yorkshire, and Frances, possibly living in Canada. These ladies are all now probably married, but I do not have this information.
It would be great to find some family from my Scottish roots as I have always felt a strong link to Scotland but knew nothing of where I came from.
My mother married in New Zealand and died when I was quite young. I did not now that she had siblings as she never spoke of them. Now that I am older I so much want to know about them.
