THE Semitones Concert Party is a local group which performs for charity at church clubs and other events which want some light entertainment.

Founder member David Ellis has died and the group is wanting to carry on what he started.

There are eight members who provide a variety of music, comedy and song:

Kirsty Haigh – a vocal soloist, sings songs from the shows, performs in local music theatre and will be soloist at the LBT Last Night of The Proms nextŠ year. Her accompanist will be Judith Helm, who is the pianist for the Semitones. Judith also sings folk songs with guitar.

David Jagger sings solos and comedy duets and has performed in musical theatre. He is a member of Honley Male Voice Choir.

Becky Gregson-Flynn sings solos and comedy duets and takes lead parts in Meltham and Huddersfield Gilbert and Sullivan Society productions. John Beevers – ukulele banjo player – sings George Formby songs. Phillip Sykes sings songs at the keyboard and plays and sings at many local folk clubs. Ann Drake is vocal soloist, with a mixture of jazz and songs from the shows and comedian and compère is Alan Woodhead, aged 80.

If requested the Semitones will provide a community song session during the concert.

The Semitones have performed at many places including The Elderberry Club at Cowcliffe Methodist Church and they are at present rehearsing for a concert at Trinity Church Fartown on December 3.
