YOUNGSTERS have run, jumped and thrown their hearts out in a bid to be crowned champions.

The annual Shelley Pyramid sports hall athletics competition took place at Shelley College.

The event was attended by 13 first schools from the area and involved more than 200 children from years 3 to 5.

They competed in long jump, standing triple jump, chest push, vertical jump, speed bounce and javelin, as well as a variety of individual and team track races.

Six schools qualified through to the finals.

And the overall winners were Shepley First School (pictured above ) with 228 points followed by Skelmanthorpe who came a close second with 210 points.

All participants demonstrated a high level of determination, skill and enthusiasm and must be commended on their efforts.
