KIRKLEES has been granted Fairtrade status which shows that our citizens have never been more aware of the importance of ethical trading.
It has taken two years to achieve and it has involved many organisations working closely together to make it happen.
Fairtrade fortnight starts on Monday and over the coming days people will be able to find out more about what it all means.
But it shows that people don’t always want just the cheapest price.
They want to make sure those at the start of the chain get a fair price for their hard work and it’s also a benchmark that the quality is good.
It’s a testament to the area and a tribute to the fact that we shop with a conscience in Huddersfield.
