Charity Christmas concert in minster

THE Annual Co-operative Charity Christmas Concert, held this year on Friday, December 14 at the Doncaster Minster, was once again a huge success, raising £1,500 for the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

The audience were delighted at the performances of Christmas music, both traditional and modern, given by the Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers and the Skelmanthorpe (Championship) Brass Band. The audience also enthusiastically joined in the singing of several communal Christmas Carols.

The support given by the South Yorkshire and Chesterfield Area Committee of The Co-operative ensured that all the proceeds from ticket sales and raffle were donated to this wonderful local charity. The Co-operative also provided festive refreshments during the interval and a selection of festive hampers as raffle prizes.

Chairman of the Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers, Dorothy Miller, thanked everyone involved “for making it such a wonderful evening”.
