HUDDERSFIELD Town's 'Football in the Community' department helped pupils get active.

More than 30 youngsters from year three at St Aidan's First School in Skelmanthorpe visited the Zone facility on St Andrews Road, Huddersfield, for an activity day that aimed to get the pupils active and interested in football.

The seven and eight-year-olds took part in several football games over the day and Community Manager Rob Day said it was a delight to host the school.

He said: “St Aidan’s day at the Zone ran much like our 'twinning' projects, where we aim to bring the kids from two schools together.

“Basically we got the kids active through a number of football activities, such as 'hit the target' contests and other simple drills.

“It goes without saying that exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle and you are never too young to start!

“However, it is important that kids enjoy the exercise they do and that was certainly the case with the kids from St. Aidan's.”
